About MindLight Mental Wellness
Kellyn Marshall, PMHNP
Mental health care is an act of liberation—a way to reclaim your clarity, agency, and sense of self. I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and board-certified addictions nurse. I have specialized education and training in traumatic stress disorders, women’s health, identity- and orientation-affirming care, and addiction medicine. My practice combines evidence-based psychiatric care with holistic approaches that take into account physical, emotional, and energetic well-being. I created MindLight Mental Wellness to offer a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported as you navigate life’s challenges.
My Background
I began my career in healthcare as a massage therapist and quickly became fascinated by the ways our bodies store trauma and stress. This led me to Somatic Experiencing, a body-based modality that helps people release those patterns of trauma and tension in a safe and supportive way. Through this, I discovered how vital the mind-body connection is to our overall wellness. Decades later, this understanding continues to influence my work with patients.
I received my nursing degree in New Mexico, where I completed in a clinical rotation in behavioral health and an externship at the Albuquerque Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner’s office, where my role focused on advocacy and education and assisting with forensic examinations. As a psychiatric NP student I completed my clinical training at the VA Clinic in White City, where I worked with veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress, substance use disorders, and a variety of other mental and physical health challenges. These experiences shaped my commitment to trauma-informed, person-centered care—to mental health treatment that validates lived experiences and fosters resilience and empowerment.
